Given that many constituents are understandably concerned about MPs allowance claims, here is my recent letter to residents about this issue.
I thought you would also like to see some of recent press releases I have issued on the subject.
The first, issued on 12th March 2009, gives a detailed breakdown of my allowance claims for financial year 2007/08. I have released details of all my claims to the press for many years, long before it was compulsory.

The second, issued on 15th April 2009, explains my decision to opt out of the Additional Costs Allowance (the so-called 'second homes allowance').

I hope that these clarify the situation, as far as my claims are concerned, but if you have any further questions about this, or any other issue, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I also thought you might like to read the following article published in the Economist, which I think gives an accurate analysis of the current situation. Click here to read it.
I am publishing on this section of my website all of my claim forms for the year 2007/08. The House of Commons has also now published the claim forms of all MPs for the last four years. To view my claims on the official Parliament website please click here.
Below is a letter for publication, sent to the Hendon Times Group, in explanation of some of my allowance claims, which were criticised in a letter in the Hendon Times. Unfortunately the Times did not publish my explanation concerning food claims, accountancy bills and petty cash. Explanations are given in this letter.
