Andrew Dismore , Labour Member of Parliament for Hendon, has been supporting residents in the Lidbury Estate (former Mill Hill Gas Works site) Bittacy Hill in their campaign against the Council for many years.
Mr Dismore has now obtained the original outline planning consent, which shows that before the development was constructed, the drainage system was to have been approved by the Council (Condition 20); and before the site was occupied, the road had to be constructed and approved (Condition 23).
Mr Dismore said:
“Bearing in mind the Council is now saying that the road was not constructed to the appropriate standard and the drains were not properly built, either, I am astounded that on detailed investigation it turns out that these were original conditions before the development which should have been allowed to proceed.
This raises very serious questions of maladministration by the Council to which residents have now suffered for many years, through the failure of the Council to adopt the roads.
I shall be advising residents to consider an Ombudsman reference in view of this serious maladministration.
(Original planning consent attached).
