Andrew Dismore, Labour Member of Parliament for Hendon, has published his Illegally Logged Timber (Prohibition of Sale) Bill which is due for Second Reading on Friday 26th June (click PDF icon below for text).

Mr Dismore said:
“This is a really important Bill, if we are serious about preserving scarce resources, particularly tropical timber in the rain forests.
If we are serious about the environment, part of that effort has to be to protect what remains of the forests, particularly in the developing world.
My Bill will provide a significant contribution towards toughening up the law, by making it a criminal offence to sell timber or wood products that are obtained or produced illegally in their country of origin.”
