Andrew Dismore, Labour Member of Parliament for Hendon, spoke in the debate on stroke services in Parliament on 3rd June, on the issue of the proposed new hyper-acute stroke units planned for London.
Mr Dismore said:
“This was a very good opportunity to expose the misinformation being put out by the Conservative party who are suggesting that cuts are being made. Proposals put forward are for an expansion of stroke services costing £23 million a year, not a cut.
The Tories would jeopardize the ability of the NHS to provide the essential hyper-acute services required to improve significantly the prospects of recovery from major stroke.
The Conservatives would jeopardize the necessary quality of care and the clinical advantages of the proposed hyper-acute services, so that they would not be able to operate efficiently and effectively losing the benefits of the specialist care in the new units.” |
